Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain are holding crunch talks today over the potential transfer of Bradley Barcola, as both clubs seek immediate clarity on a saga that has dominated the final stretch of the summer transfer window.
The Reds earmarked the 23-year-old France international as a primary target to replace Mohamed Salah earlier this summer, leading to weeks of high-stakes negotiations with the reigning European champions.
However, the two clubs have spent much of the window struggling to find common ground on a fee. PSG are holding firm on a £145million (€140m) valuation, while senior figures at Anfield have attempted to negotiate a deal structured closer to £100million.
With negotiations rapidly approaching a potential stalemate, The Athletic reports that crisis talks were convened on Tuesday, August 25, to establish a final direction of travel for the player's future.

Player keen on Anfield move despite PSG stance
Barcola retains two years on his contract at the Parc des Princes running through to June 2028 but the winger remains determined to secure a move to Merseyside to secure regular starting minutes. PSG’s rigid stance on their nine-figure valuation has frustrated decision-makers at Liverpool, who are eager to bring down the fee. There remains a genuine risk that the entire deal could fall apart if neither side compromises in the coming days.
Despite the negotiation impasse, reports emerging from France suggest optimism within the player’s circle. Tactical fit under Iraola and wider squad balance
Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola recently acknowledged that the squad requires further reinforcements, particularly in wide positions, to support his high-intensity style.
Barcola's positional flexibility operating predominantly from the left flank while possessing the tactical intelligence to play across the front line makes him a natural fit for Iraola’s setup.
The winger’s profile is underlined by impressive numbers in France. Barcola scored 11 Ligue 1 goals in 29 appearances last season, adding two goals and four assists across 16 Champions League appearances as PSG retained their European crown.
