Zubimendi, now 25, is only entering his prime years. He is on the cusp of becoming a truly great footballer and getting pushed at a club like Liverpool might be the final push he needs to really breakout.

He does not play an overly taxing way so that his body can withstand the rigors of constant top flight football 2-3 times a week.

With the rumored transfer fee sitting around €60 million, that could easily repay itself over the life of his deal, or even longer. If Zubimendi patrols the base of midfield for 10 years at Anfield, it might be seen as one of the best bargains of this era.

His career trajectory suggests a move to a top club is the next step on his journey in this wonderful game. He would fit well as a balance between the aging stars already here and the rising youngsters.

He plays the game in so many ways, has a proven pedigree at the highest level, is just entering his peak years and will not cost an inordinate amount. There is not a lot to dislike about this move if it were to happen.

This is a deal where both club and player would reap all the rewards together.
