3 Things to Watch from the Liverpool midfield in 2024/25
2. Can Dominik Szoboszlai put together a complete season?
The Hungarian starlet was perhaps the most exciting new arrival last summer for Liverpool. His hot start only amplified the palpable feeling of hope surrounding the Reds new No. 8.
Yet, injuries would slow him down and then upon his return he was a shell of himself. Too often he would float out of matches and one could not be blamed for forgetting he was still on the pitch. He was benched for Harvey Elliott in the spring.
If Szobo can get back to his box-to-box machine output we saw early on in his first season, we could be onto something. Even better perhaps, if Slot allows him to stay in the 10-hole and dictate the attack that could be even better.
His natural gifts are still out of this world and his service is just a tick below someone like Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Obviously staying fit is the first mission, but if he can do that I hope and expect him to make an impact in far more matches than we saw him do last term.
The talent is still there and he is still so young, it's time to rise to the challenge.
