There are many glaring questions regarding the Liverpool midfield, but what should we focus on in the new season?

3. Will Liverpool bring in any reinforcements?

With the sudden collapse of a deal for Martin Zubimendi it now looks like Liverpool are heading into the new season with no new signings.

In a perfect world that would change rather quickly. It'll be interesting to see if Slot, alongside Richard Hughes and Michel Edwards, deem the midfield fully stocked.

The aforementioned names are a very talented group, but as we have seen, it's a long arduous season, especially with participation in the newly formatted Champions League joining the fold.

Personally, I think a new defensive midfielder is needed and I am not alone in that. A proven No. 6 at the highest level, or near it, would go a long way to unlocking players like Gravenberch, Macca and Szoboszlai who could focus on getting forward.

Permanently moving TAA into a midfield role could be like a half-signing, but new blood is needed for this season and beyond. I'm eager to see if they make a move or not before deadline day.
