3. Ben Davies - 2021 to 2022

Ben Davies's transfer from Preston North End in February 2021 will go down as one of the weirder signings of all time for Liverpool, even if it had a purpose. After significant injuries to Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip, and Joe Gomez hit the squad, the Reds were desperate for centre-backs. Davies was signed for a minimal fee from Preston North End as his contract was close to ending with the Championship side.

Davies never played a match for Liverpool but made the bench multiple times during the club's injury crisis at the back. For the 2021-2022 season, the English defender went on loan to Championship side Sheffield United, who had just been relegated from the Premier League. After that loan spell, Davies moved to Scottish giants Rangers, where he still plays.
