A look back at Liverpool vs Brentford in the Premier League
Liverpool have a long history against a variety of opponents when it comes to playing in the Premier League.
Brentford on the other hand, does not. They only recently made their return to the top flight of English football and as such have not been able to accrue a vast past against the Reds.
However, having said that, there is still a few years of matches and numbers we can go over and here is a not shocking development, it's mostly good reading for Liverpool fans. Let's take a look back at the history between the Reds and the Bees.
A run of dominance by Liverpool
We have faced Brentford six times in the Premier League since the fall of 2021. In those matches, the Reds have gone 4-1-1 so it has been an outstanding run of results against the Bees.
Liverpool have found scored goals for fun in this series as they have at least three goals in 4 of the 6 matches while outscoring Brentford by a total of 12-7. So goals and exciting football have been at the front in this matchup and that looks like it will continue.
While Brentford have been a pleasant surprise since their rise to the Premier League a few years ago, they have just not been able to fully hand with the Merseyside outfit.
Looking ahead, it should be the Reds continuing to their run of success in the series.
Salah scoring for fun against the Bees
It's not overly surprising anymore when you look at the numbers and find that Mohamed Salah scores a lot of goals against an English club.
He's scored in five of the six Premier League meetings including this past February in the 4-1 thrashing at Brentford Community Stadium.
Based on his outstanding performance in the Opening Day win against Ipswich Town, he looks likely to add to this total once again. Arne Slot has him playing with confidence once again and this fixture is one that Salah clearly thrives in.
Look for him to find the net once or twice on Sunday as he continues his fine run of form.
Looking Ahead in the fixture
Despite the departure of Jürgen Klopp, things still appear like they will run smoothly under Slot and Liverpool will not slowdown anytime soon.
While Brentford are a rock solid mid-table club, they will continue to chase the Reds and as we project forward, it's hard to fathom the run of dominance ending for Liverpool.
The starpower and the the might of Anfield both combine to make it a formidable task each match just for opponents to draw with us. There might be an occasional outlier here and there, but overall, the goals should keep flowing and the wins will soon follow.
It'll take a huge change in the standing of both clubs for this series to significantly change in the near or long-term future.
