Liverpool and Brentford have not played an inordinate amount of times, but when they clash, it usually ends well for the Reds.

I'm going to walk you through the last five meetings between the clubs and take a look into the results.

Sep 25, 2021 - Premier League - Liverpool 3 Brentford 3

This was by far the most exciting match between these clubs in a long while. This was still during the previous iteration of Liverpool so guys like Fabinho, Sadio Mane, Joel Matip and Jordan Henderson were in the Starting XI for Jurgen Klopp on this fall day.

Liverpool held a 2-1 lead through Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah before the Bees stung back to level it just past the hour mark.

An even younger Curtis Jones restored the advantage in the 67th minute. It looked like Liverpool would be able to escape with a win before an 82nd minute goal from Yoane Wissa sent the home crowd into rapture.

While it was a comfortable performance on the day, the scoring triumvirate for the Reds was one of the most unique in a long time. Takumi Minamino, Fabinho and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all netted a goal in the victory.

Seeing Fabinho and Ox score in particular was such a rare occurrence at the club. To have them both do it in the same match was downright unbelievable.

The Bees did not have any sting on this day as they were swept aside in front of a raucous Anfield crowd that braved the cold winter air.

This one is still fresh in the memories as it happened during a brutal stretch of results last season. Things were at their darkest during this time, and this result drove that point home.

A wild sentiment when looking back at this match, the Liverpool starting midfield trio was Thiago-Harvey Elliott-Ox. Even more mind dizzying was Elliott was replaced by Naby Keita.

A rough Ibrahima Konate own-goal opened the scoring and Brentford played with confidence throughout. A late Bryan Mbuemo counter attack goal sealed the points for the Bees and drove home more misery for Klopp and his crew.

Luckily, this was one of of the final matches of disappointment before the season took a turn for the better during the Spring. However, it was a microcosm of the challenges we faced just last season.

Almost five months later to the day, Liverpool got their revenge on the Bees as Mohamed Salah's lone goal was the difference on the day.

This came during a strong run to the finish as Liverpool tried to salvage their season and scrape into the Top 4. While they did not achieve that goal, this result gave them the maximum of what they could have hoped for.

Klopp went extra aggressive as Jota, Salah, Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo all started the match. Even with all of that firepower, it was still a workmanlike effort required from the boys. In the end, it was a clean sheet which is something that would be most welcome come Saturday's match.

These two sides met just a few months ago before the extremely loaded holiday fixture list really kicked into high gear.

A Salah brace was the catalyst for the victory as the Reds looked strong as they seemingly strolled past Brentford.

The result came on the heels of a rough outing in the Europa League where Toulouse dispached a listless Liverpool side in France. This win was a strong bounce back outing to right the ship and build momentum going into the Manchester City match.

This was the 17th consecutive meeting that Liverpool have scored against Brentford. Let's hope that number hits 18 a few days from now.
