With just three games left this season, Liverpool are not far from pivoting their attention to the summer transfer window. Former Liverpool sporting director Michael Edwards has returned as the CEO of Football with Fenway Sports Group and now plays again a crucial role in transfers for the club. As a part of his new role, Edwards will oversee the work done by incoming sporting director Richard Hughes, who will officially be a Liverpool employee on June 1st, 2024.
With changes in personnel among the higher-ups, contract statuses for players are now up in the air. Progress made on any extensions is now blurry, and it is not unreasonable to say that some negotiations may be starting from scratch this summer.
Three senior players are due to have their contracts at the club expire this summer. This list includes Thiago, Joel Matip and Adrian. Given the injury problems and ages among these players, any of them returning feels unlikely at this point. What about the following year, though?
