Harvey Elliott 'a different class' and Liverpool makes a decision on Carvalho
As we get prepared for another weekend that inches us closer to Premier League football, there are news headlines to be studied and reports to share as always to prepare you for your brief respite from the daily grind.
Liverpool picked up another win on their US tour when they defeated Arsenal 2-1 and there was some very nice things coming from the match. In addition, Liverpool have made a transfer decision about a young player.
Let's take a look at some of the biggest news headlines around the club heading into the weekend.
Harvey Elliott hailed by teammate
Liverpool's No. 19 had an outstanding performance in the win over Arsenal as he created both goals with two very different kinds of passes.
He released Mohamed Salah on a devastating counter with a wonderfully weighted through-ball that allowed the Egyptian to run onto and ultimately finish with class. The other assist came from a chipped lob over the defense for a sweet goal.
It was a very good outing for the young Englishman as he continued in his efforts to convince Arne Slot of his value. One person who doesn't need anymore convincing is Reds midfielder Tyler Morton.
""He's different class, different class as a player, different class as a lad. Everyone loves him and he is a brilliant footballer. To watch him play out there, everyone comments on it: he’s class to watch, he’s got something different to a lot of players.""
- Tyler Morton to liverpoolfc.com
Morton is not wrong in that Harvey has seemingly leveled up as a player and he wants to make 2024/25 his best season yet.
No loan for Fabio Carvalho
The second half of last season saw Carvalho shine on his loan stint at Hull City in the EFL Championship. He was racing up goals and looked to be back at his best.
However, the path to regular minutes in the midfield and attack is not clear for the youngster. With that being said, Liverpool are not looking to send him on loan again. He will either stay and earn his minutes this season or he will be sold on a permanent deal this summer.
With that being said, the club will only move him if they deem a worthy offer comes in and there is no word on what that number might look like for the Reds.
There would also likely need to be another player brought in as well to keep the rotation balanced if Slot is not planning on using the Academy in-depth this season.
It will be up to the player and club to finally decide what is best for both his career and the present and future of the club. I've said before he could still have an important role to be play. We will see where this goes.
