League Cup Final Predictions and Players to Watch

With the 2024 League Cup Final closing in by the hour, it's only necessary to try and look into our crystal ball and predict what could happen. Who doesn't love making predictions published for the world to see?

We gathered some of the best minds at Rush the kop to take a crack at it all. Without further ado, away we go..

Player to Watch in the Final

John Carl Bolido - Virgil Van Dijk. First Cup Final as Captain for LFC. We'll be looking to him a lot for inspiration and calmness throughout the match. He has to be at the top of his game to deal with Chelsea's threat.

Kevin Lu - Harvey Elliott. Even though he has been utilized as an impact sub for a lot of the season, Elliott was made for key moments. His positional versatility rotating from midfielder to forward is a big bonus. He produces 80.7% pass completion with 101 progressive passes. He will be crucial.

Will Schwartz - Mohamed Salah or his Replacement. Chance creation is going to be key given our up and down finishing this season,

Joseph Copeland - Conor Bradley. The young Northern Irishman has been a revelation at right-back since the turn of the new year. He has allowed the Reds to not miss a beat in the absence of Trent Alexander-Arnold. He will be called on again with TAA already ruled out. His creative tenacity could be key in this one.

What is your Dream Scenario for this Final?

John Carl Bolido - We absolutely blow them away, similar to the 4-1 win at Anfield, but it's a Final, so things are never that straightforward unfortunately!

Kevin Lu - Liverpool keeps a clean sheet. Questions about the Reds' defensive fragilty have not gone away this season. Conceding one goal per match, at minimum, has seemingly become a satisfying enough output for Kopites. I really hope Caoimhin Kelleher can cover any defensive mistakes. Also, no penalty shootout at the end.

Will Schwartz - Bradley with a brace, assist and a goal line clearance in a 3-1 win. Salah and Darwin both don't play, as they're not needed. Kids win the trophy, starters rest up.

Joseph Copeland - Ryan Gravenberch and Wataru Endo completely dominate the midfield and Liverpool strolls to a comfortable 2-0 victory. They lift the trophy with as little resistance as possible.

Who is going to win the 2024 League Cup?

John Carl Bolido - Liverpool 2-0. We get a goal midway through the first half and Salah comes in and seals it towards the end.

Kevin Lu - Liverpool 3-1. Liverpool can still maintain a dynamic front trio of Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz and Elliott if needed. No matter how Klopp switches things up, the Reds will still have an advantage with their pressing forwards. Chelsea's defense has been relatively solid for now, but their inability to convert chances into goals has not been totally solved.

Will Schwartz - Chelsea. I don't think we have the fitness and I honestly hope we don't push ourselves to the limit. The Premier League is more important.

Joseph Copeland - Liverpool 2-1. As much as I would like a straightforward victory, Chelsea have been much improved as evidenced by them pushing Manchester City to the limit. Liverpool have a lot of star power that will miss this Final, but we still have plenty of match winners in the side. It'll be a nervy affair I'm sure.
