As we move into the weekend, there are a handful of news bits that we should examine closer. The Reds continue to inch towards confirmation of their new coach Arne Slot.

In addition, some new transfer targets are on the map while we get a brand new injury update as Liverpool finalize preparations for the Tottenham clash on Sunday. Let's take a look into some of the biggest headlines to know going into the weekend.

Arne Slot not yet announced, but confidence remains high

Liverpool and Feyenoord reached a financial compensation agreement last week over the rights of their Dutch coach Slot. While the Reds have not confirmed anything on their side, it appears the deal is all but done.

It is to be assumed that perhaps Liverpool could be waiting for Jurgen Klopp to officially depart the club before announcing his successor.

Slot, for his part, spoke during a pre-match press conference before Feyenoord took on PEC Zwolle this weekend;

"We haven't confirmed anything yet and as long as we haven't confirmed anything yet I don't think it is honest to the club I am working for now or the club I could go to to talk about it."

Expect the club and Slot's group to move quickly once the season wraps up for both clubs.

Liverpool eyeing up move for Victor Osimhen

The Napoli striker has been of the most in-demand forwards in the world over the past two years. Following his exploits last season when he fired the Naples side to a Serie A title, major clubs have been knocking at the door ever since.

Today, with Napoli sitting in a disappointing 9th in the Italian table, it is looking more and more likely they will have to cash in on their star attacker.

For his part, Osimhen has been in fine form scoring 16 goals while recording 4 assists as well. As a result, PSG are a leading candidate to land the Nigerian forward. However, the Reds have been credited with an interest in him as well.

Liverpool wanting an elite striker to finish off chances tracks as they have seen their title chances fall by the wayside as golden chances have slipped by.

Osimhen has a €130 million release clause so it will be a hefty challenge to secure his services.

Virgil van Dijk a doubt for Sunday

The Liverpool Captain is expected to miss out on Sunday's clash with Spurs as he has missed training all week with an unspecified injury.

It will be interesting to see how the Reds defense handles losing out on their leader when it comes to dealing with the relatively potent Tottenham attack.

Klopp will likely turn to the likes of Jarrell Quansah and Ibrahima Konate to be his central pairing. Although, the likes of Joe Gomez could be in contention as well.
