As we come closer and closer to the summer months, that means the the transfer rumor mill is only going to kick into overdrive.

This comes despite the fact that Liverpool have not yet confirmed a new manager to replace the outgoing Jürgen Klopp. That has not stopped sources reporting that Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes are on the hunt for fresh talent.

We're going to go through some of the biggest names and most recent to see if any of them have validity to them.

Nico Williams - Athletic Bilbao

The young electric winger is a wonderful talent. At 21, he has registered 6 goals and 14 assists this season for his side and major clubs across Europe are lining up to secure his services.

Liverpool are reportedly one of those following Williams saying he would be open to a move to the Premier League. Tottenham are also keenly interested in the Spaniard so it will not be a straightforward process.

However, if the likes of Luis Diaz or Mohamed Salah do depart this summer, this kind of signing would make a lot of sense. Especially when you look at his very reasonable £43 million release clause.

This could happen, but other things need to come to fruition first.

Goncalo Inacio - Sporting CP

This is a player that Liverpool have been heavily linked to in the past as he fits their criteria to the finest bullet point. At 22-years old, he is the perfect age and he is a left-footed ball playing center-half that can slot into any system in the world.

While this deal would not be solely predicated on the Reds hiring Ruben Amorim, that certainly would not hurt their case. Bringing in Inacio who is familiar with the style that Amorim wants to see, would be a big boost at Anfield.

He's a terrific young talent and is on his way to becoming one of the best young defenders in the world.

This would be an astute signing as Liverpool will have to dip into the market to replace the likes of Joel Matip. Bottom line, this is feasible, but some hurdles still remain. Get it done, Reds.

Pedro Neto - Wolves

This is another familiar name that Liverpool have long been credited with an interest in. Neto is probably his side's most creative force and he has shown up against the big teams multiple times this season.

He would prove to be a strong asset to the side. However, his injury history has continued to become extensive and that could be a stopping point for Edwards and his team.

If the price is right, and Liverpool believe in their training staff to get Neto over his injuries, then this could be a move that happens sooner than later.

Keep your eyes on this one.

Gustavo Nunes - Gremio

The 18-year old Brazilian is the latest hot prospect to be linked with a move from his homeland following the steps of Endrick and Vitor Roque.

Nunes is a very direct winger that is supremely gifted on the ball and his dribbling prowess gives him a feel of a young Luis Diaz.

As you look across Europe, Brazilian starlets are popping up and rising to the occasion with none bigger than Vinicius Junior at the moment. Liverpool could be interested in setting themselves up for a bright future with the signing of someone like Gustavo.

However, they do face competition from Manchester City and Arsenal so this will be a dogfight to see who can capture the next future star.
