Good morning and happy Monday to all of you! We kickstart the week as we do every Monday with some of the biggest Liverpool news headlines from over the weekend.

A Liverpool legend is in the hospital while one of Liverpool's essential role players talked about what he sees for himself in the future.

Without wasting anymore time, let's dive right into the Monday morning headlines!

Alan Hansen in the hospital with serious illness

The former Liverpool defender, 68, is reportedly ill in the hospital per a source from within the club. Hansen retired as a football pundit in 2014 at the top of his game.

A statement from the club on the situation; "The thoughts and support of everyone at Liverpool FC are with our legendary former captain Alan Hansen, who is currently seriously ill in hospital."

It continued; "The club is currently in contact with Alan's family to provide our support at this difficult time, and our thoughts, wishes and hopes are with Alan and all of the Hansen family."

Hansen made 620 appearances for the Reds and won 11 trophies as a player for this great club before going on to become a top media pundit. We wish him all the best.

Joe Gomez comfortable with his jack-of-all-trades role

It is no secret that Gomez has the ability to play across the defense which has seen him grow into an important first team option at Liverpool.

He deputized at left-back in Andy Robertson's absence and has popped on the right side before the emergence of Conor Bradley. Even this season saw him make a few outings at the defensive midfielder spot.

He spoke after receiving the Embodiment of Liverpool Award from The Anfield Wrap.

""Obviously I still feel like I can contribute well at centre-half, but I've definitely enjoyed my football and for me that comes first. It is what it is. The main thing is just giving it all for the badge. Wherever that is, I'm definitely I think in a phase of my career where I'm more accepting to whatever it may be." "

It's this positional versatility that makes Gomez such a conundrum. He is a good player to have when challenging on four fronts, but his constant bouncing around means he cannot maximize a single aspect of his game.

Liverpool players gearing up for Euro 2024 beginning this week

As the final preparations for the European Championships begin wrapping up, national teams are now shifting their focus to the tournament itself.

Several Liverpool players such as Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo, Dominik Szoboszlai are all key figures for their respective nations.

All of these players will be hoping to stay fit in training and get off to a hot start. Andy Robertson will Captain Scotland in the tournament opener against Germany on Friday. Reds fans will have plenty of reason to tune in throughout the tournament.
