Liverpool player ratings for damaging 2-0 defeat to Everton

Wednesday quickly turned into a nightmare for Liverpool as they self-capitulated once again and fell to a shocking and ugly defeat away from home to their biggest rivals.

It was once again a case of being wasteful in front of goal in combination with the defense randomly turning off in key moments to allow their opposition into dangerous spots. Sloppy defending and the inability to clear the ball led to Everton getting their opener.

Leaving Dominic Calvert-Lewin unmarked at the far post on a corner meant the second goal was easy as pie and the game all but dead.

Alisson Becker - 6.5/10 - He made a handful of fine stops in this one as he did his best with the poor defensive work in front of him. Slightly unlucky that the first goal dribbled in off him following a strong save effort.

Trent Alexander-Arnold - 6/10 - He tried his best to get any semblance of an attack going but too often just was a bit off. Lacked conviction as the game wore on and he tired. Subbed.

Ibrahima Konate - 3.5/10 - A truly horror show from the Frenchman who did very little of note in this one aside from getting bullied by the Everton forwards. Poor on ball again. Subbed.

Virgil van Dijk - 5/10 - The Captain lost out on numerous aerial duels in this one which is a rare occurrence. He looked flustered and lost at times as he implored his team to calm down.

Andy Robertson - 6/10 - Was an outlet all night long on the wing and made countless runs forward with some pretty good deliveries to boot. One of the few who looked like he came to play. Subbed.

Alexis Mac Allister - 4/10 - Probably his worst game playing from the No. 6 in quite some time. He is wasted that deep. Could not break up much of the Everton attacks and his passing range was oddly off-key.

Dominik Szoboszlai - 3/10 - Was he actually on the pitch for this game? It was hard to find him at any point. When you did, he was giving the ball away. Subbed.

Curtis Jones 5/10 - The momentum and confidence he had before his injury have not returned. He looks like a shell of the player that he was. Decent endeavor but too many times caught out or making the wrong decision.

Mohamed Salah 4.5/10 - Invisible for long stretches. Created a few half-chances but was wasteful himself. Did not change the game like we know he can and now this is more then a trend.

Darwin Nunez - 4/10 - He should have scored when put through clean on goal but fired straight at Pickford. Made himself available often only to respond with a heavy touch or bad pass. Did create a clear chance for Diaz.

Luis Diaz - 5.5/10 - He was a willing runner and stretched the Everton defense on multiple occasions but as usual, there was no end product to his game. Should have scored when Nunez put him clean through but also fired right at Pickford.

Harvey Elliott - 5/10 - Did not change the game in anyway after coming on as the side looked defeated already.

Wataru Endo - 5/10 - Did his best to stem the tide and won a few headers and made a few break-ups. Nothing to write home about.

Jarell Quansah -5.5/10 - Looked decent coming into a difficult situation but it was a cauldron of chaos for the youngster to try and turn things around.

Kostas Tsimikas - N/A - Hopefully one of his final outings in Red.
