When a match is built up as much as the Premier League clash between Liverpool and Manchester City was, there usually comes a case of it not living up to its billing. However, following nearly 100 minutes of can't miss action, this one did.

A well orchestrated corner kick by City allowed Kevin De Bruyne to find John Stones at the near the post for the opener.

Darwin Nunez would win a penalty that was converted by Alexis Mac Allister to level things early in the 2nd half. Liverpool was not able to capitalize on their dominance in the second frame as multiple glaring chances went begging as things ended 1-1.

Caoimhin Kelleher - 7/10 - The Irishman did not have a lot to do in this one. Was beaten rather meekly at his near post for City's only goal. Was quick off his line to shutdown a dangerous Phil Foden chance. Overall distribution was good, solid when needed.

Conor Bradley - 7/10 - The 20-year old had his biggest test of his burgeoning Liverpool career in this one and and he passed comfortably. He continues to show no fear and was constantly getting stuck in and winning balls back. Put in some dangerous balls before being subbed off at the hour mark.

Jarell Quansah - 7/10 - The young Englishman was forced into the Starting XI with Ibrahima Konate tending to a hamstring injury. He looked composed as always and made some fine challenges throughout.

Virgil van Dijk - 8/10 - The Liverpool Captain rose to the occasion once again in this one as he led by example from the back. Did brilliantly when caught 1-on-1 with Erling Haaland to force a wayward attempt. His distribution on the ball sprung some threatening moves as well for the Reds.

Joe Gomez - 6/10 - Starting out on the left side of the defense, Gomez struggled to get up to the speed of the game early on. Foden caused him some issues. He switched to the right with Bradley off. Was loose on the ball and gave it away a few times, but overall, did just enough to get by.

Dominik Szoboszlai - 6/10 - Getting his first start since returning from injury, Szobo did not impact the game like he would have wanted. Missed a clear header on goal which he will rue. Floated in and out of the game before being subbed.

Wataru Endo - 8/10 - The Japan international continues to thrive at the base of the Liverpool midfield. He broke up countless City moves with his awareness and positioning. Moved the ball forward with directness to get counter attacks flowing. Brilliant player.

Alexis Mac Allister - 9/10 - Macca put on a virtuoso performance in this one as his high pressing caused issues once again. Slammed home the penalty with confidence and was always looking to receive the ball in good areas. Wanted to move Liverpool forward with every move and almost won a crucial second penalty late on. Outstanding game.

Harvey Elliot - 7/10 - It continues to amaze how he continues to run and run and run. He is coming into some of the best form of his Reds career and it continued Sunday. Put many threatening balls in the box and was a dynamo when on the ball and biting into tackles when not.

Darwin Nunez - 7/10 - A willing runner as ever in this one. Caught offsides far too often though. Had some half chances he took but biggest contribution was winning the penalty for the equalizer. Dangerous as always before coming off in the 75th.

Luis Diaz - 8/10 - This could have been an even higher rating if he could just finish today. Had a golden opportunity following a stunning Mo Salah pass but did not even hit the target. His passion and work rate could not be questioned though and ran himself ragged until the end.

Subsstitutes:

Mohamed Salah - 7/10 - Brought instant belief and he looked like himself. Great passing range and always popped up in inviting spots. Never got a clear cut chance on goal though.

Andy Robertson - 7/10 - He brought stability to the left side of defense and his link up play with Diaz was giving Kyle Walker fits. Put in some wonderful crosses throughout as he looked more lively than he has in awhile.

Cody Gakpo - 6/10 - Did not do a lot with his chances after coming on for Darwin. He's not the same kind of player so he did not stretch the City defense as much. A few half-opportunities but nothing special on the day.
