As frustrating as the defeat on Saturday was for Liverpool, there is no time to rest and wallow, because the Champions League is back for the Reds.

Arne Slot will be leading his charges to the San Siro late on Tuesday to kick off our European journey. There are change that will need to be made after the disaster against Nottingham Forest.

I have some thoughts in mind for every facet of a potential lineup so let's not waste anymore time and jump right into how Liverpool could lineup on Tuesday.

Goalkeeper: Alisson Becker

Defenders: Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jarell Quansah, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson

Midfielders: Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, Curtis Jones

Forwards: Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz

Probable Subs: Cody Gakpo, Diogo Jota, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo, Conor Bradley

Alisson was not a fault for the goal conceded on Saturday and he is of course a lock for the XI. I have Konate needs to be rested as he cannot be asked to start again so soon this early in the season. Quansah has done more than enough to get the nod in big matches.

TAA has the start in the hopes that he can recover his dynamic playmaking that was sorely missing in the defeat over the weekend.

As for the midfield, it's getting harder and harder to not lock Ryan Gravenberch into the XI if he us fully fit. Mac Allister has a solid floor even on his worst days so his experience at the highest level is always a good thing in a match like this.

Salah was very poor on Saturday but his individual brilliance is never going to miss a match of this significance if he is fit and firing.

As for the center-forward role, I think Nunez should be utilized because his pace on the break is absolutely something that could hurt Milan at any moment. Jota looks like he could use a breather and his finishing could be a boost off the bench.

Jones comes into the lineup as he made his first appearance at the weekend and could be ready for 50ish minutes that would be ideal.

Szoboszlai struggled against Forest but his technical quality is still a useful asset against a Milan side that could be pushing high up as they are spurred on by their home fans.

It'll be a fascinating tie between Liverpool and AC Milan as the Champions League journey begins in earnest.
