Liverpool predicted Starting XI for Premier League match against Nottingham Forest
We have survived yet another international break and it is closing in on time for the Premier League to get back on track.
Liverpool will attempt to maintain their perfect record under Arne Slot in the Premier League as they take on a feisty Forest side that has had a solid start to their own season themselves.
With the Champions League campaign soon to follow Saturday's league action, this is the first time that we should see some serious lineup shuffling as Slot will surely have the trip to Milan on his mind when he puts his XI together.
Let's see how Liverpool could lineup on Saturday.
Goalkeeper: Alisson Becker
Defenders: Conor Bradley, Jarell Quansah, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson
Midfielders: Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch, Harvey Elliott
Forwards: Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz
Probable Subs: Wataru Endo, Cody Gakpo, Ibrahima Konate, Kostas Tsimikas, Trent Alexander-Arnold
So, this might seem a bit to the wide direction in terms of lineup shuffling, but I think approaching the match with an abundance of caution is not a bad thing.
Alisson in goal is just fine as usual. It's likely that Alexander-Arnold starts and comes off around the hour mark, but I think Bradley would be a super spot start here. Konate and Quansah is a tossup for me, but I think that Quansah gets the nod.
Alexis Mac Allister picked up a slight knock on international duty with Argentina so I think that he needs to be rested for this one to make sure that he is fully fit for the Milan Champions League clash.
Szoboszlai is an absolute engine so I have no problem with him starting these two matches in a four day window, so he should have a big role to play against Forest.
Elliott needs the opportunity to build on his strong preseason form and having him step in for Macca is the ideal time. Forest is the kind of opponent where he can grab the game by the scruff of the neck and make something happen.
Endo starting over Gravenberch is also an option but I think Slot has gained a lot of trust in our No. 38 and I would not be shocked to see him start and get around 50-60 minutes.
Finally, the forwards could be a whole host of different combinations. Salah, being in peak form and condition, should start and get about an hour himself. Jota has played great but he needs to be managed and Nunez could wreak havoc in this kind of setting.
Finally, Diaz is a workhorse just like Szoboszlai so I have no issue with him starting this one either. Although, Gakpo is a good shout himself.
