Liverpool began their quest for a 2024/25 Premier League title with a 2-0 victory away from home against newly-promoted Ipswich Town.

Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota were the scorers on the day as Arne Slot the best possible result on his competitive debut in charge of the Reds.

With that, the season is well and truly underway now and the fixtures will begin coming thick and fast. Next up is Premier League Matchday 2 and a meeting with Brentford at Anfield. Will Slot keep things the same or will he opt for a change?

Let's find out how Liverpool could lineup on Sunday.

Goalkeeper: Alisson Becker

Defenders: Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson

Midfielders: Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai

Forwards: Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota. Luis Diaz

Probable Subs: Cody Gakpo, Harvey Elliott, Conor Bradley, Wataru Endo, Darwin Nunez

Ali in goal is a lock as usual but as we look at the defense, I will make one change from the win over Ipswich. At halftime of the win, Slot swapped Konate for Quansah later saying he valued his aerial prowess.

As a result of this, I think it might be an option for Liverpool to give the Frenchman his first start of the season. The rest of the defense needs to remain the same though.

In the midfield we should expect to have the same trio that controlled proceedings at Portman Road. Gravenberch was the star attraction as he showed some real class in a No. 6 role where he was all over the pitch.

Macca did not have his best day ever but he was more than serviceable and is one of a few locked in starters in this squad. Szoboszlai will be looking to build on his solid start and could play advanced.

Lastly, obviously Salah is playing as he just reinforced his importance to the club with a goal and an assist in the win. Jota played well enough and got a goal so he should get the start once more. I do expect we'll see Darwin for the first time this season though and he could have an impact off the bench.

I almost had Cody Gakpo in the Starting XI for this one but I took him out and put Diaz back in as the the work-rate of the Colombian is ideal and should be amplified by the Anfield crowd.

Gakpo did not have much chance to succeed as he came on late but Brentford could offer him his chance to kickstart his season.

Overall, Liverpool have the stronger side and however their XI shapes up, it should be more than enough to secure the first home points of the new season.
