Midfield

This area saw an overhaul last summer. It was always planned but the sudden departure of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho added the need for changes.

We saw the arrival of Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch, and Wataru Endo. If you don’t obsess about a defensive midfielder or a No. 6 then you are not a Liverpool fan.

There always appears to be a requirement within the fanbase to have one. With Endo on the wrong side of 30 there may well be a case to invest in this area.

Furthermore we have also seen the departure of Thiago to add weight to the argument. On the flip side we are seeing the return of Stefan Bajčetić. However after a lengthy layoff it would have to be a cautious approach with him.

Attack

On the face of it, Liverpool has a fantastic attack in terms of individual brilliance. However 3 of the attackers have questions over their future.

If we start with Mohamed Salah, there are suiters in Saudi Arabia for him. They could come back in for him.

If he was to go, a replacement would be absolutely necessary. It may not have to be be a like for like replacement.

With his contract expiring next year there is a case to find a replacement for him this summer also. Then there is the case of Darwin Nunez. He has been with Liverpool for two seasons now.

Fans can see the raw potential still but also want results as well. He didn’t have the best of form towards the end of the season.

Liverpool’s decision makers may be tempted to cash in if an offer was to come in. Again, a replacement would be necessary.

Lastly there is Luis Diaz. There have been a number of rumours linking him with Barcelona. Most South American players have a desire to play for either Barcelona or Real Madrid as we saw with Coutinho.

Diaz is at a prime age to gain a hefty transfer fee.  Again a key player like him would need replacing. One thing we can sensibly rule out is more than one striker leaving this summer. That would be an overhaul which would not be a sensible thing to do.
