4. Javier Manquillo on loan from Atletico Madrid - August 6th 2014
The first of two loans on this list, Javier Manquillo is another Spanish fullback who joined Liverpool in the summer of 2014. A then 20-year-old Manquillo had yet to fully break through at Atletico Madrid, and a two-year loan to Liverpool with an option-to-buy was the next logical step for the Spaniard.
Manquillo began as Brendan Rodgers's starting right-back in Champions League action for the 14-15 season, with the odd start here or there in the Premier League as well. The back-end of the 14-15 season, however, was much different as Manquillo failed to earn a single minute in the Premier League after December 29th, 2014.
In the summer of 2015, Atletico Madrid decided to terminate Javier's loan at Liverpool after it was clear he no longer had a future with the Reds. Manquillo's name will be familiar to most Premier League fans as he went on to play for Sunderland and then Newcastle for the next eight years of his career. The 30-year-old now plays for Celta Vigo in La Liga.
