3. Aly Cissokho on loan from Valencia - August 20th 2013
If you forgot about Aly Cissokho, we will forgive you. The French defender made just 19 appearances during the 13/14 season on loan from Valencia. Cissokho began as Brendan Rodgers's first-choice left-back in league play after returning from injury before Jon Flanagan soon moved up to the starting spot just before the midway point of the season.
Injuries to Flanagan saw Cissokho earning minutes again at the start of the new year, but he quickly returned to the Liverpool bench for the remainder of the season. Given Rodgers' lack of faith in Cissokho, it's no surprise he did not return to the club on a permanent deal.
After leaving Liverpool, Cissokho had an adventurous career, playing for eight teams after the 13/14 season, including playing in Thailand, where he still resides.
