1.. Luis Alberto from Sevilla - June 20th 2013
One of the more forgotten-about players to play for Liverpool, given he played just nine Premier League matches, Luis Alberto was Liverpool's first of three summer signings from La Liga in 2013.
Alberto had climbed Sevilla's academy rankings in the early 2010s, earning himself multiple youth caps for Spain and a loan move to Barcelona's B side for the 12-13 season as the Catalan giants looked to test the midfielder's potential.
Despite scoring 11 goals for Barcelona B, the club never got to exercise their option-to-buy clause as Alberto headed to England, signing for Liverpool in the summer of 2013. Luis Alberto came to the club as "one for the future" and not an immediate contributor, which was reflected in his 258 minutes across all senior competitions for the 13-14 season.
Alberto would go on to have back-to-back season-long loan spells in La Liga, which landed him a permanent switch to Lazio in 2016. Despite being a notable player in Serie A, Luis Alberto had just one lone cap for Spain, coming off the bench against Costa Rica in a friendly in 2017.
The Spanish midfielder just moved to Al-Duhail in the Qatar Stars League this summer.
