We are getting closer and closer to the summer festivities where international football will take center stage.

For the purposes of this article, we are going to keep our focus strictly on the 2024 Copa America tournament and the handful of Liverpool players that will be taking part for their respective nations.

Some of the names making the trip from Anfield could play pivotal roles for their national teams so we are going to see just what kind of impact they might have, good or bad. Here we go!

Alexis Mac Allister - CM - Argentina

Widely considered Liverpool's signing of the season, Mac Allister will be hoping to carry his good momentum into the national team.

Macca has become a fixture in the heart of the Argentina midfield and played an unheralded role in their 2022 World Cup triumph that finally got Leo Messi the one thing he was yearning for. Mac Allister's ability to play in a flexible No. 8 role has proven valuable for manager Lionel Scaloni.

As we look ahead to this tournament, Alexis should once again be a common name in the Starting XI, They prefer to run a variation of the 4-3-3 where Mac Allister is the furthest forward of the midfield three.

As we saw during the late winter and early spring, further upfield is where Mac Allister does his best work so this could be a big tournament for him.

I expect a strong showing from our No. 10 as he could play a key creator role in their quest for a successful Copa title defense.

Luis Diaz - LW - Colombia

Colombia are roaring into the Copa America tournament riding a 20-match unbeaten run that has them being viewed as a potential viable contender for the trophy. Diaz is a a player that will be essential for them if this goal is to be achieved.

While he has 11 goals from 47 caps, as ever with Lucho, his impact goes beyond just the end product. His dribbling prowess and progressive mindset gets his side forward often.

Diaz is the focal point of the attack as a lot of their moves come down his side. He did not end the season with Liverpool in the best form and now sits mired in a transfer saga, so perhaps linking up with his countrymen will be just what the doctor ordered.

If James Rodriguez can turn back the clock, he and Diaz could carry this side on a semi-deep run in the tournament.

Darwin Nunez - ST - Uruguay

Nunez has scored in his last four outings for his country, so he carries a lot of momentum with him into this event. While his season ended quite poor, with his inconsistent finishing coming back to haunt the club and him, he appears to be a different man with the national team.

Projecting ahead to this tournament, he should be the main man up top for La Celeste. They typically play with an attacking 4-3-3 with Darwin through the middle. He will be receiving service from a fine midfield of Federico Valverde, Rodrigo Bentancur and Nico de la Cruz.

It will be interesting to see what roles Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani play, if any. They are playing for Inter Miami and Boca Juniors respectively as they wind down their illustrious careers.

Nunez should have plenty of opportunities to find the back of the net for Uruguay, Just like for Liverpool, a lot will depend on which Nunez shows up, the world class finisher or the woodwork man?

Alisson Becker - GK - Brazil

Alisson will once again be at a major tournament for Brazil. However, he has far too often played the role of backup to Manchester City's Ederson with the national team.

Despite Alisson being widely regarded as the best keeper in the world, he can't seem to fight his way into the Starting XI for his country.

However, there is a new manager in charge of Brazil so perhaps this could mean a change in fortunes for our No. 1. If he does get the chance to start, he will have some potent attacks ready to test his resolve from the beginning.
