Left Back - Steve Nicol

The left back was actually hired to play as a right back. However Steve Nicol was so good that he could play anywhere.

He ended up playing Right Back, Right Wing, Left Back and Midfield on occasion. Nicol was part of that glorious team that dominated the 1980’s.

From winning the European Cup in 1984 to playing the extravagant football under Kenny Dalglish in the late 80’s.

That Liverpool side was at its peak thrashing a talented Nottingham Forest team 5-0. The Scottish international has 4 league titles to his name.

Nicol combined the hard work ethic with his supreme ability. Even as a defensive player he managed to score a hat trick against Newcastle.  The alternative selection would be for a player who played just before I started watching in Alan Kennedy.
