Brendan Rodgers made 33 signings during his stint as the Liverpool manager. Not all of them were success stories, in fact, some were quite the opposite.

Almost £20 million for Lazar Markovic for example did not age well for the Northern Irishman nor did his signing of Mario Balotelli. Now, while every manager is going to have some bust transfers, the focus today is to look back at a few times where Rodgers got it right.

He brought in some players that would become integral foundational pieces of the soon-to-follow Jurgen Klopp era.

4. Joe Gomez - June 20, 2015 - £6m from Charlton Athletic

Gomez was not always the bearded super utility man that we know today. He came to Anfield as a fresh faced 18-year old from Charlton with little to no top level experience to show yet.

He would turn out to be one of the last signings that Rodgers would make at Liverpool as he would soon be out of the job that fall. It took Gomez a few years to really be given a proper opportunity to play under Klopp.

Once he did, he showed his positional versatility across the backline which endeared him to Klopp and allowed Gomez the chance to play relatively regularly.

While even to this day he has not scored a goal for the club, his contributions have been more than valuable to earn a place on this list. 220+ appearances in all comps and coming off perhaps his best season in 2023/24 shows he still has more to offer going forward.

He very well could rise in a list like this on his current trajectory.
