2. Behind-closed-doors friendly loss to Preston North End
July 19th saw Liverpool lose 1-0 to Championship side Preston North End as the Reds' played their first unofficial match of pre-season.
Highlights and a recap of the match suggest Liverpool dominated possession but could not find the finishing touch needed to find the back of the net. Preston's lone goal came off a mistake at the back, which saw Vitezslav Jaros chipped by a Preston forward.
The starting XI for the match consisted mainly of senior players, while Ben Doak also featured. The second-half XI was purely academy players, with 17-year-old Trey Nyoni subbing into the match late.
