James Milner - 2015
To an overwhelming majority of fans, James Milner is the best free transfer for Liverpool ever. Originally signed by Brendan Rodgers in the summer of 2015 on a free from Manchester City, Milner would go on to be one of the most-used players by Jurgen Klopp who joined the Reds in the fall of 2015.
Despite Liverpool's eighth-place finish in the league for 2014-15, Milner impressed with seven goals and 11 assists in all competitions in his debut season. Milner's impact on Liverpool cannot be understated. Despite maybe not being the flashy player for the Reds, especially in his later years at the club, his versatility was so important for eight seasons. His impact via leadership was also noticeable, as he was the vice-captain for some time with the club.
Milner won it all with the Reds in 332 appearances. The now 38-year-old still is active and plays with fellow Premier League Brighton and Hove Albion.
