4. Liverpool rally late against Crystal Palace with Elliott injury-time winner
Who doesn't love a comeback and a late winner? On December 9th, Mo Salah and Harvey Elliott found their scoring boots in the latter stages against Crystal Palace.
Crystal Palace nearly opened the match in the first half through Jefferson Lerma, whose attempt on goal was miraculously stopped by Trent Alexander-Arnold on the goal line after a tough save from Alisson. Just over ten minutes into the second half, Jean-Philippe Mateta subbed on at half-time, slotted home a kick from the penalty spot.
The Reds worked to find an equalizer, and in the 73rd minute, Curtis Jones did enough to shift the ball over to Salah in the box, whose shot found its way through a maze of bodies and into the Crystal Palace goal.
Shortly after the board was held by the fourth official to show the added time, Harvey Elliott shook off the press from Jean-Philippe Mateta before lining a shot up with his left foot. A perfectly placed curler snuck past Sam Johnstone, sending the Liverpool away end into an absolute frenzy and securing the win for the Reds.
