Liverpool 5-0 Crystal Palace (2001)
Liverpool had lost at Selhurst Park in the initial leg of this League Cup semi-final, a goal down, the Reds righted it in the second leg.
Vladimir Smicer outpaced the Palace defence for Liverpool’s first, before a superb Danny Murphy volley put the Reds in front on aggregate.
Igor Biscan slid home the third inside 18 minutes, Murphy’s second, a strong finish put Liverpool out of sight before Robbie Fowler completed the rout.
This was the first final Liverpool reached that season, as the Reds beat Birmingham City on penalties in the final.
Liverpool went on to complete a cup treble that season, also winning the FA Cup and the UEFA Cup.
