Amid the group stage of Euro 2024 in Germany, some standout performers are beginning to emerge. With Liverpool expected to make some additions this summer, it is not out of the question that one, if not multiple, signings will have played at the Euros. So, what Euro performers is Liverpool currently being linked to?
Three Euro top performers being linked to Liverpool this summer
1. Nico Williams - Athletic Bilbao
Williams was named the UEFA Player of the Match for his efforts against Italy in Spain's second group stage match. The 21-year-old winger enjoyed a successful 2023-24 campaign in La Liga, scoring 18 goals in 31 matches. With a release clause of just over £46m, plenty of clubs are interested in signing Williams this summer.
Among those teams could be Liverpool, who were first linked to Nico Williams via The Athletic, who suggest the club is a potential destination for the Spanish forward should they look to add a wide player this summer. Fabrizio Romano has followed this up by suggesting that Liverpool have recently internally discussed Nico Williams and asked Athletic Club information on the player.
Williams's biggest strengths are his pace and dribbling, both at an elite level this past season in Spain. His ability to breeze by defenders opens up an incredible amount of opportunities for Williams to pass the ball into dangerous areas, leading to his exceptional assist tally. Liverpool are likely to see competition for his signature should they pursue him, with the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea also linked to Nico Williams.
