Liverpool could be wise to utilitize the loan system this summer.
Liverpool is no stranger to using loans to help with player development or, at the very least, putting players in the shop window to sell them down the line. This past season, players such as Fabio Carvalho left to find more minutes, while the likes of Nat Phillips and Sepp van den Berg were viewed as surplus and subsequently loaned out.
Loans can also be used to help players from the academy earn their first full season as professionals and really integrate themselves into first-team football. Given the high bar of talent needed to cut into Liverpool's first-team, some players need to pave their way into the professional game elsewhere first.
Three Liverpool youngsters who could benefit from a loan move
1. Bobby Clark - Midfielder
Clark is no stranger to being around the Liverpool first-team despite still only being 19 years old. Having trained with the first team for now over a couple of seasons, Clark's debut for the Reds came back in August 2022, when he was subbed on for 7 minutes in Liverpool's massive 9-0 win over Bournemouth. The 2005-born midfielder has minutes here and there since with the senior side but mainly has featured with the U21s.
Just this past season, in the second leg of Liverpool's Round of 16 Europa League fixture against Sparta Prague, Clark started for Liverpool, picking up his first senior goal and his first senior assist along the way. Son of former Sunderland and Newcastle player Lee Clark, Bobby is looking to pave his own way into professional football, and a loan move further down the English pyramid could be beneficial to the player.
A move to the Championship is not necessarily too ambitious, but the England U20 international would likely be an every-match starter if he could secure a loan move to League One.
