2. Florentino Luis

The emergence of Joao Neves this season and the arrival of Orkun Kokcu saw Florentino's role with Benfica decrease, but the Portuguese midfielder still possesses some of the best defensive and passing stats across Europe. Florentino was actually strongly linked to Liverpool last summer although nothing ever materialized.

From Football Reference, Florentino ranks in the 99th percentile in tackles and interceptions, and 96th percentile in blocks among registered midfielders. He is also a strong presence in the air. His passing stats all pass with flying colours, with an average passing percentage of 89%, ranking in the 97th percentile in passes attempted by registered midfielders.

Florentino plays with an intensity that could be perfect for Arne Slot. He often steps up to pressure the ball carrier into making a mistake and quickly retrieves possession back in his side's favour. Florentino, with his high number of interceptions, has the ball at his feet a lot, which has resulted in the 24-year-old midfielder being responsible for starting the build-up play for Benfica.

Florentino isn't necessarily a surplus at Benfica, but clearly, Joao Neves is the bigger focus in the Portuguese giants' midfield now.
