3. Youssouf Fofana

Monaco's Youssouf Fofana has been linked with a move away this summer and he could be a great option for Liverpool as a deep-lying playmaker. He would also follow the exact transfer route as Fabinho did, leaving Ligue 1 side AS Monaco to join Liverpool.

Fofana is an exceptional passer, ranking in the 98th percentile of passes into the final third by midfielders. While many defensive midfielders look to pass the ball backwards or sideways, Fofana excels by being such a forward-thinking midfielder. Not only can he pass the ball forward well, he can progress the ball forward at an elite level.

While perhaps more of a box-to-box midfielder than a traditional number 6, Fofana has the capability of both being a defensive rock in the middle of the park and being good enough to start counterattacks by ensuring the ball moves into the opposition's half. His agility and shiftiness allow him to evade the press of midfielders after he wins the ball in the midfield.

Fofana is currently with France at Euro 2024 although he is yet to see many minutes this tournament.
