Will Liverpool swoop in for a Centre-Back in the dying embers of the Transfer Window?

With Joe Gomez looking like he could leave, how should Liverpool react?

Dream – Alessandro Bastoni

Another left-footed centre back, but an already world-class player, and probably the best left footed centre back in the world.

An extremely gifted ball-playing defender who’s defensive skills match that of his on the ball ability.

Another rumored long-term target for the Reds, the Italian would be a huge statement for LFC and both suggested signings so far would show Liverpool’s ability to plan forward for the inevitable departure of Vrigil van Dijk, which is hopefully a few years away yet.

Another player who would seamlessly fit into Slot’s play style and would also offer some tactical flexibility, with his prowess and experience of playing in a three at the back.

Unorthodox – Ko Itakura

Itakura is another player Liverpool have been linked with in the past, but someone who is far different from the two previous suggestions.

The Japanese international would be more of a high quality squad piece, similar to that of the signing of his compatriot Wataru Endo.

However, Itakura would come being the right side of thirty and comfortably at that as well. The 27-year-old has been in Germany since 2021 with Schalke and Borussia Mönchengladbach and has the top level experience.

May not be the flashy signing some fans may want but would bring quality, experience and acceptance of his role as a squad piece, something that can be an extremely underrated trait at big clubs.
