Liverpool could make a massive push for England's Marc Guehi.
It's no secret that Liverpool will look to add a new centre-back this summer who they feel is capable of being a starter. Multiple names have emerged as possibilities, but for now, Liverpool is not in advance talks to sign any defender. However, this could be because they are waiting for the Euros to finish and for one player's tournament to be over.
With Euro 2024 now over Liverpool could push for England star
Earlier this week via Playback TV, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano revealed that Liverpool are strong admirers of Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi and that they could be waiting for Euro 2024 to finish to make a push for the centre-back. Arsenal are also described as a club appreciative of Guehi although their interests look to lie elsewhere.
Liverpool's interest in Marc Guehi dates back awhile but it wasn't until March that the Reds' intermediaries reportedly reached out to Crystal Palace to ask clarification on Guehi's situation. However, Liverpool has yet to begin negotiating for the player, and there's no guarantee that they will even make a move.
Given Guehi's performances at the Euros and his importance to Crystal Palace in the long run, it will likely take a massive transfer fee to lure him away from the London-based club. Having just turned 24, Guehi's best is yet to come, and he can be considered a long-term option for Liverpool on the right side of the defence.
With Champions League back on the table for Liverpool, it will be imperative to add much needed depth to the backline, especially with Joe Matip departing this summer. Joe Gomez would be Guehi's direct competition should he join Liverpool, with Jarell Quansah in the mix although the youngster has shown he can play on the left-side as well.
