Over the weekend Liverpool got back to their winning ways with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Aston Villa in the Premier League. They now face a much sterner test on Tuesday evening.
European superpower Real Madrid will once again be making the trip to Anfield for a Champions League showdown with the Reds. This also means the return of Trent Alexander-Arnold following his acrimonious exit over the summer.
Arne Slot will be without some key players through injury such as Alexander Isaak, Jeremie Frimpong and Alisson Becker.
As a result, the Dutchman will once again have to tinker with things, but perhaps not too much as he has a winning side to choose from.
Here is how Liverpool could lineup as they try to win their second straight Champions League match of the season.
Goalkeeper: Giorgi Mamardashvili
Defenders: Conor Bradley, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson
Midfielders: Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister
Forwards: Mohamed Salah, Hugo Ekitike, Cody Gakpo
POSSIBLE SUBS: Federico Chiesa, Florian Wirtz, Curtis Jones, Joe Gomez, Milos Kerkez
Mamardashvili starting in goal is clear, and while he has not been elite during his time replacing Alisson, he certainly has been more than serviceable when called upon. He'll be needed on Tuesday.
Defensively, Bradley and Robertson played so well over the weekend it would be hard to not include them in this starting lineup. Van Dijk and Konate will need to come ready to play from the first minute if they are going to handle this Real Madrid attack.
I was very tempted to have Wirtz starting, as it would not shock me if Slot opted for his creative and attacking flair, however, the midfield trio of Gravs-Macca-Szobo that was so important to last season's success made a strong return in the win over Villa.

I think they get another crack to keep the good mojo rolling against Madrid, but do not be shocked if Wirtz is included at the expense of Mac Allister.
Up front, with Isak injured, the front three for the most part pencils itself in. Salah had a resurgent outing beyond just another goal and he will be crucial to any success we have on Tuesday.
Ekitike has been in good form most of the season so he will be tasked with shouldering a lot of the scoring burden when the chances fall to him.
Overall, it may not be the strongest XI we see Liverpool runout all season, but it definitely can do some damage if everyone comes locked in and executes their role.
