As we count down the hours towards kickoff at Anfield for the League Cup second leg that sees Liverpool needing to overturn a 1-0 aggregate score.
There is a calm expectation that the Reds will be able to get the job done, however, that does not mean it will be instantly and Arne Slot will need to field a strong side to get the job done in front of a raucous home crowd.
With that being said, let's take a look at how Liverpool could lineup for this marquee cup showdown with Tottenham Hotspur.
Goalkeeper: Alisson Becker
Defenders: Conor Bradley, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson
Midfielders: Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, Dominick Szoboszlai
Forwards: Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo
Probable Subs: Curtis Jones, Diogo Jota, Kostas Tsimikas, Harvey Elliott
Alisson is an obvious choice in goal just as van Dijk is partnering Konate in the center of the defense. They will need to be locked in to keep the deficit at one.
Bradley comes in for the injured Trent Alexander-Arnold and he will be tasked with holding down some dangerous Spurs forwards, including the impeccable Hueng-min Son. Robertson is coming off a solid outing at the weekend and should start once again.
Mac Allister and Gravenberch are Slot's two best midifelders this season and they will be hugely influential in how this match turns out for both sides. Perhaps getting Mac Allister further forward might add another layer for Tottenham to account for.
Szoboszlai gets the start as Curtis Jones is only just making his return from inury. Liverpool's No. 8 will need to be at the top of his game in all facets if the Reds want to take the match by the scruff of the neck early on.
As we look into the attack, both Salah and Gakpo are clear choices as they have been sterling this season more often than not. Salah is in the midst of one of his best seasons at Anfield.
Whereas Gakpo has excelled in this competition since joining Liverpool and he will look to continue that trend on Thursday.
Having Darwin start is probably a stretch, but I do know that Slot is still a big fan of his and he does offer a different dimension the likes of Luis Diaz or Diogo Jota do not, blistering pace on the break.
Diaz will probably start as he has been very strong this season, but Nunez cannot be overlooked as a factor to watch.
