Arne Slot has some tough decisions to make when choosing his lineup to faceoff with Manchester City. How could the Reds lineup?

Sunday is set to feature one of the most intense Premier League fixtures around when Liverpool locks horns with Manchester City at the Etihad.

The Reds are coming off a mildly disappointing draw at Villa Park against a very good side to be fair. There were some middling performances by some players in that match so it will be interesting to see how Arne Slot chooses to rotate for this marquee matchup.

With that being said, let's take a look at how Liverpool could lineup for the huge clash with Man City on Sunday.

Goalkeeper: Alisson Becker

Defenders: Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson

Midfielders: Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai

Forwards: Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz

Probable Subs: Darwin Nunez, Jarell Quansah, Wataru Endo, Harvey Elliott

Alisson in net is an easy one as he is typically able to rise to the occasion in huge matches like this and he also has a decently good history against City.

The defense is short of options with both Conor Bradley and Joe Gomez missing out through injury. This means the main four that we know and love will be tasked with handling most of the load on Sunday.

Alexander-Arnold, if he cannot go the full 90 minutes yet, could be spelled by Quansah at some point.

The midfield three could be match-winners if they are on their game from kickoff. Szoboszlai in particular was great in the reverse fixture a few months ago and Liverpool will be hoping for a repeat performance.

Gravenberch has not been his elite best the last few matches so a return to form from the Dutchman will be a huge boost in a match of this magnitude.

Mac Allister's pressing and technical prowess could be a huge weapon for Slot as he will be looking to unlock a much more vulnerable City defense than we are accustomed to seeing.

As we look at the forward group, outside of Salah there are some questions to be asked. The Egyptian was immaculate once again midweek and will be hungry for more as usual.

Nunez had a rough outing against Villa and it seems Slot is low on trusting him at this moment and he might go with the more consistent finishing of Jota in an important meeting like this.

As for the left wing, Cody Gakpo is battling fitness hurdles and hopes to be involved but I don't think he would start if he is available. Diaz can certainly make some magic happen if given the opportunity.
