Liverpool have been one of the more active teams in the transfer window already and it hasn't even officially opened.

The rumors and reports are swirling but what can you believe and what isn't worth our time? We rounded up the four hottest transfer updates around the Reds to rate the probability of a move being finalized.

Let's get started.

Hugo Ekitike

The 22-year-old French striker has been a standout performer for Eintracht Frankfurt in the 2024/25 season, having netted a total of 22 goals and contributed 12 assists across all competitions.

Despite previous reports from BILD presenting Chelsea as frontrunners for Ekitike’s signature, Sky Germany has recently reported that not only have Liverpool reportedly initiated talks to sign Ekitike, but they are “seriously in the race” to land the forward.

With transfers such as Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong on the cusp of being completed, moves such as this one signify the necessity of selling players in order to fund the new arrivals.

As Darwin Núñez seems likely to depart this summer, according to Mundo Deportivo, it’s no surprise that the Reds are pushing for a prolific, young striker such as Ekitike.

Transfer Probability: High

Rayan Cherki

At 21 years of age, Cherki has established himself as a creative force in Lyon’s midfield.

Known for his versatility, he has been instrumental in the 2024/25 season, having made 30 Ligue 1 appearances, contributing significantly to Lyon’s offensive play, netting 12 goals, and recording 20 assists throughout all competitions.

The Frenchman has been a player on various clubs’ radars for years now, and with a reported £19m release clause, several clubs around Europe are looking to sign the young winger.

Despite Liverpool’s interest in the player, Manchester City seems to be ahead in the race, making this transfer unlikely to happen.

Transfer Probability: Low

Tomás Araújo

The 23-year-old Portuguese defender has been a reliable presence in Benfica’s backline.

Araújo combines physicality with tactical awareness while also holding great availability for his club, having featured in 28 league matches and 11 UEFA Champions League games during the 2024/25 season.

Metro reports that PSG, Chelsea, and Liverpool are all interested in the player, who has a reported release clause of £67m.

As Jarrell Quansah seems more and more likely to leave the Reds in the summer, with several clubs being interested, Arne Slot will have to look for a replacement, and it seems like Araújo stands closer to the top of the list alongside another name on this list.

Transfer Probability: Medium

Jorrel Hato

Despite being only 19, Hato has emerged as a key defender for Ajax. In the 2024/25 Eredivisie season,

Hato made 31 appearances, showing the maturity of an already seasoned player.

Although Milos Kerkez seems to be close to completing a move to Liverpool, the Dutchman, who primarily plays as a left-back for Ajax, can also play in the center half position.

All this being said, a move for the defender looks to be unlikely at this time, with the club more focused on completing other transfers.

One thing is for certain: if talks for Kerkez take a turn for the worse, Hato will be the first name on Richard Hughes’s list.

Transfer Probability: Low

Liverpool’s interest in these young talents shows a focus on building a squad for the future.

The Reds aim to combine youthful energy with experience, not only being shown in these transfer rumors, but also with the likes of Wirtz, Frimpong, and Kerkez, who all look to become part of the Premier League winners sooner rather than later.
