Taking a look at potential replacement options for Salah, VVD and Trent

A big task awaits Richard Hughes this summer - how will he manage this transfer window and how will he retain or replace the Big 3?

Rodrygo - Real Madrid

As we know, Rodrygo is a fundamental pillar in Real Madrid's attack and a player Ancelotti relies on in the lineup, even with Mbappe's presence.

Rodrygo still plays and participates with the team, but let's look beyond this. A player with his capabilities and at this club would cost a hefty price - I think Real Madrid wouldn't let him go for less than £100 million, or maybe won't let him go at all because he's part of Real Madrid's legacy and one of the pillars of their project.

But let's assume if it happened, would Rodrygo be a good replacement for Salah? Looking at Rodrygo's statistics during his time with Real Madrid, this season he participated in 19 La Liga matches, scored 6 goals, and recording five assists, and in the Champions League, he played 6 matches, scored 4 goals, and made one assist.

Last season, he played 34 matches, scored 10 goals, and made 5 assists. This was his highest scoring rate in his career with Real Madrid. So would Rodrygo be the ideal replacement for Salah?

Rodrygo is a promising and good player, but perhaps he doesn't suit the Reds' system and playing style because he would be under pressure to prove himself and will remain under pressure being compared to Salah.

It's certain that Rodrygo will need some time to integrate into the team and try to prove himself. Therefore, Rodrygo might be a good option for Liverpool but not the best option because at his peak, he only achieved a tiny fraction of the goals and assists compared to Salah.

Leroy Sané - Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich's current player and former Manchester City star, can play as a right or left wing. He has good fitness and is fast, delivering good performance, but his numbers aren't big.

In the previous season 2023/2024, during 27 matches, he scored 8 goals and made 11 assists, and this season he has started 9 matches and participated as a substitute in 7, scoring 5 goals and making two assists.

Perhaps his coach Vincent Kompany doesn't rely on Sané primarily, but we all know Sané during his time with Manchester City was active and fast, and everyone predicted he was a promising talent.

His price according to Transfer Market is $73 million. which isn't crazy for a player of his ilk, I think he might seem like a good option as a substitute that can be relied upon at times, but he's not the player who provides scoring contributions throughout the season.

The good thing is that he knows the Premier League atmosphere well and understands the nature of matches there.
