The 5 Liverpool stars under the spotlight during the International break

The focus will move away from Liverpool for the next three weeks as a large portion of Andoni Iraola's squad heads away on international duty for three weeks. 

Liverpool's 1-0 victory over Bournemouth on Sunday brought their latest Premier League run to a temporary halt, with Alexander Isak scoring the only goal at the Vitality Stadium. 

The Reds will now have to wait until October 11 for their next Premier League fixture, when they host Manchester City at Anfield. 

With 18 members of Liverpool's first-team squad away with their respective countries, there will be plenty to keep an eye on before the Premier League returns. 

Here are five Liverpool players who could have particularly interesting international breaks. 

Virgil van Dijk 

Virgil van Dijk enters the international break at the beginning of a new chapter with the Netherlands. 

The Liverpool captain had admitted that continuing his international career was a "massive decision" following Ronald Koeman's departure, but conversations with new head coach Xavi have convinced the defender to remain with his country. 

The 35-year-old will now lead the Netherlands into Xavi's first Nations League campaign, with Germany providing the first test on Thursday. Xavi has confirmed that the Liverpool man will remain captain after their positive discussions. 

He will also reunite with former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp when the Netherlands face Germany, while Cody Gakpo, Ryan Gravenberch and Jeremie Frimpong are also in the Dutch squad.

Jérémy Jacquet 

Jérémy Jacquet's rise has been one of the most interesting developments of Liverpool's opening weeks, and his first France call-up gives him another opportunity to demonstrate his progress. 

The 21-year-old has been selected by new France boss Zinedine Zidane after representing his country throughout the youth levels. He now has the opportunity to make his senior debut. 

France have several established options at centre-back, including William Saliba, Ibrahima Konaté and Dayot Upamecano, meaning Jacquet faces serious competition for minutes. 

However, his Liverpool form has certainly given him momentum. The Frenchman impressed again in Sunday's victory over Bournemouth, helping Iraola's side keep a clean sheet with a Man of the Match performance. 

How much Zidane trusts him during the four fixtures could provide an early indication of where Jacquet sits in the France hierarchy.

Rio Ngumoha 

Rio Ngumoha's England involvement could be one of the biggest storylines of the international break. 

The Liverpool winger has been included in Thomas Tuchel's first England squad since the World Cup, making him the only Liverpool player selected for the senior Three Lions squad. 

The 18-year-old already has experience with the senior setup, having made his England debut in a 1-0 friendly victory over New Zealand during the pre-World Cup camp in Miami. He came on at half-time and was named Man of the Match after an impressive display on the right wing. 

This break could therefore be about turning that promising cameo into something more substantial. 

With England facing Spain, Croatia and Czechia, Ngumoha will be competing for opportunities among a group that includes Bukayo Saka and Anthony Gordon, and with Marcus Rashford being ruled out from international duty, minutes for Rio look almost guaranteed.

The 18-year-old's versatility and recent exposure on both wings for Liverpool could make him a useful option for Tuchel.

Lewis Koumas 

Lewis Koumas heads into the international break with some serious momentum. 

The Liverpool youngster was handed a rare start against Tottenham in the Carabao Cup and took his opportunity, leading the line in a 3-1 victory at Anfield and being named Player of the Match. 

It was only his second senior start for Liverpool, but his energetic pressing and movement caused Tottenham problems throughout his 86 minutes. 

Now he has the opportunity to carry that confidence into the Wales setup. 

Koumas already has 12 senior caps for Wales, but the extended international window could give him a chance to push towards becoming a more regular starter. 

The trip to Portugal could be particularly valuable, with the Liverpool forward potentially coming up against some of Europe's leading defenders.

Alexander Isak 

Finally, Alexander Isak arrives at the international break in exactly the sort of form Liverpool supporters will want to see continue. 

The Swedish striker scored his fourth goal in his opening five Premier League appearances for Liverpool by finding the net against Bournemouth on Sunday. His finish ultimately secured a 1-0 victory for Iraola's side. 

The timing of the international break could therefore feel slightly unfortunate for a striker who appears to be settling into his new surroundings. 

Isak's role for Sweden will also be worth watching. He has previously operated from the left, a position that has similarities with some of the movements Iraola has used at Liverpool, with Isak drifting into the left channel and creating space for teammates. 

If he can return to Liverpool with his scoring form intact, he could be one of the players Liverpool supporters are most eager to see back in action when Manchester City visit Anfield on October 11.
