Harvey Elliott

Elliott was signed as a prodigy from Fulham in 2019 as a 16-year old. He was the hottest young player in the country to come through the youth ranks.

He made his debut at Liverpool in September 2019 proving how highly he was rated by the Liverpool hierarchy.

In order to get more regular minutes on the pitch he went on loan to Blackburn. Elliott more than proved himself at Championship level by being an integral part of the Blackburn team.

On his return from loan Elliott started to feature regularly in the 21/22 season before suffering a horrific injury in September. This derailed his season but he recovered by the end of that season.

With a new manager at the helm, Elliott has struggled to gain a place in the starting line up. He has featured as a regular sub but not impacted the game in any form.

The game against Fulham this Sunday sums up his season in that he had 2 shots on goal and should have put at least one chance away.

There is the question of how Elliott fits into Slot’s tactics. He can play in several positions but where does he truly excel and where can he hold down a regular place in the starting XI.

At this stage of his career he should be given more minutes whether that be from the start or being bought on earlier on in games.

The case for Elliott to stay is his age. As a 23-year old he still has a chance to make an impact at Liverpool should Slot decide to keep him. As mentioned his flexibility does provide Slot with more options.
