Have you had enough turkey? Are you sick of ham? Do you not celebrate Christmas at all and are ready to move on from the whole thing?

Well look no further than Liverpool versus Wolverhampton Wanderers for some post-Christmas entertainment.

There will be plenty of thrills and spills as (arguably) the Premier League’s worst-ever team comes to town.

Liverpool's uptick in form

It hasn’t been pretty and make no mistake, Liverpool are not back to their best, but the Reds have looked better recently.

After three wins in a row in all competitions, Liverpool have earnt back a slice of respectability.

The win over Inter Milan set the tone, an attritional victory at a very difficult place to go.

This was followed by a largely comfortable 2-0 home win over Brighton, before they went to Tottenham Hotspur and finished the job against nine men.

Liverpool have been better recently at getting themselves over the line, which they struggled to do in the game prior against Leeds United.

Their game management is still not perfect, they lacked some sense at the very end against Spurs, but tactical shifts have allowed Liverpool to see games out better.

Woeful Wolves

Wolverhampton Wanderers are having a terrible season. They have not won a Premier League game yet this term.

The last time they won a match in any competition was against Everton in the Carabao Cup three months ago.

Wolves have not won for 21 games in the Premier League, the record stretching beyond the start of the season. The dubious record is held by Derby County at 32 straight matches without a win.

New manager Rob Edwards has, perhaps unsurprisingly, been unable to stem the systemic decline Wolves have faced over many years.

Selling their best players coupled with bad signings and management decisions, have left the club once semi-consistent challengers for Europe, staring down the barrel of Championship football in December.

Football is football. Wolves have been in a lot of close games this season, let’s see if they can spring a surprise at Anfield.

Excellent Ekitike

Liverpool’s forward Hugo Ekitike has been the best of Liverpool’s new signings this season.

As the weeks go by, he has taken more of a key role in the Liverpool team, and in the last few weeks in particular, he has really kicked on.

Ekitike scored twice against Leeds United and Brighton and Hove Albion, and he netted in Liverpool’s win over Spurs.

It is clear that he has become a forced to be reckoned with, with his quick feet and eye for a goal.

Ekitike is a fan favourite already in his short time at Liverpool, and seems to enjoy putting his heart and soul out there on the pitch.

After his interview this week, it is also clear that Ekitike loves an orange interior (his car has one) and a walk on Formby beach. What’s not to love?
