As Liverpool attempts to drag themselves out of this nightmarish run of form in all competitions, the next opportunity comes against Aston Villa in the Premier League.
The Reds have shown during this stretch that they are vulnerable to any opponent, regardless of status, as Brentford, Crystal Palace, Chelsea and Manchester United are some of the clubs that have piled on in recent times.
Arne Slot will once again be challenged to find the right lineup while battling injuries and a crisis of confidence throughout his squad.
With that in mind, these are things to watch when Liverpool faces Aston Villa.
1. Can the midfield control the tempo?
One of the biggest issues this season for the Reds has been a lack of consistency form the engine room as they have tried several combinations of players that just have not been able to find a foothold in matches.
Having more possession but not doing anything with it is not true possession at all. Alexis Mac Allister has struggled to hit the heights we saw from him in his early days at Anfield and him getting back to that form would be huge.
The balance has not always been on point in the middle of the park as Dominik Szoboszlai and Florian Wirtz are both players that love to get forward which has left the likes of Ryan Gravenberch or Curtis Jones exposed to ruthless counters.
The Dutch midfielder returning from an injury absence will be important, but if he does not have more help from his teammates, his impact will be very limited.
If Liverpool want to take down Villa, they need a strong and balanced showing from their midfield. Keep your eyes on it.
2. Who will shoulder the scoring load?
Another issue during this putrid run of form has ben a lack of goals from the reigning league champions.
Now, with Alexander Isak missing out through injury, Slot loses a huge option in his attack. In addition to this, we have not seen Mohamed Salah play a complete game in almost two months.
Salah scored a brilliant goal late against Brentford, so hopefully that gives him more belief heading into this one.

Players like Cody Gakpo and Hugo Ekitike have done well enough, but even they have seen chances go by the wayside in wasteful or unlucky moments over recent weeks.
Aston Villa does not have an impenetrable defense, so getting after them in an aggressive manner and taking the chances we create is essential. Scoring multiple first half goals could be huge for the confidence within the side.
Maybe Federico Chiesa or Wirtz will step up and snag a goal if the moment comes to them, but someone needs to take the responsibility and get it done.
3. Can Liverpool find their belief?
Over the last decade, what has defined Liverpool's success the most is their never-ending belief in themselves and each other.
They just knew that they would find a way to get a goal, hold the opposition out or whatever was needed would be accomplished.
During this dissatrous run, there has been no belief. A lot of these losses have come late on, see Chelsea and Crystal Palace, in moments where you normally see the Reds tighten down and make magic of their own instead.

Conceding early goals, such as versus Brentford and Manchester United, also shatters any confidence or belief before things even get settled.
It gives, "Here we go again", vibes which are never a good thing to have in a fan base or through a squad's mentality.
Slot needs to field a team that will get off to a strong start to begin rebuilding the confidence that is so broken at this time. Do that, and we could see a Liverpool return to form, for one day at least.
Winning and good results establish credibility and belief, so winning here is a must to restore that idea within the Slot system and throughout the club.
