With Alexander Isak having still frozen himself out of the Newcastle United setup, and with the Magpies yet to sell, Isak will not play a part in this game.
However, there will still be plenty of talent on show as the Premier League champions make one of their most difficult away trips they will make all season.
Discounting Isak, here are three players to watch in the Liverpool versus Newcastle Premier League matchup.
Hugo Ekitike
Perhaps an obvious choice, Hugo Ekitike was the name on everyone’s lips for at least the first hour or so at Anfield last Friday night.
The Frenchman showed some of the skills that made Liverpool want to acquire his services in the first place.
He scored his second goal in two games, and assisted for Cody Gakpo as Liverpool won 4-2.

Ekitike was linked with Newcastle United earlier in the transfer window, as the Magpies eyed a potential replacement for Isak, before the Reds swooped for the Frenchman.
In some ways, Ekitike still has a point to prove, that he can score and assist against higher Premier League opposition.
The 23-year-old will see this as an opportunity to make Newcastle rue their inability to get their deal done.
Anthony Gordon
Almost a forgotten man this summer, Anthony Gordon was the talk of the town last off-season, as rumours swirled of his potential interest in signing for Liverpool.
Boyhood red Gordon always plays as though he has a point to prove against Liverpool.
After a subpar campaign in 2024/25 Gordon will have more than enough motivation, as he will want to show that he can be the main man in a Newcastle attack without Isak.

The 24-year-old still has plenty of quality, and will likely start this encounter alongside Harvey Barnes and Anthony Elanga.
Gordon has scored twice in his career against Liverpool, both times in fixtures at St James’ Park and in the past two seasons.
He has not won a match against Liverpool in his career to date, with both Everton and Newcastle, drawing three and losing six.
Milos Kerkez
After a slightly shaky debut, Monday’s game will be key for Milos Kerkez to show what he can bring to this Liverpool team.
Kerkez seemed to almost be trying too hard against his old side, as he put in some fierce tackles against his old side Bournemouth.
The 21-year-old was taken off after an hour, for Andy Robertson, as Slot opted for a cooler head.

Kerkez will likely keep his place at left-back as he was likely outlined as the future of the position, upon Liverpool signing him this summer.
At such a young age, Kerkez clearly has plenty of time to develop, and could definitely come back from a modest start to a Liverpool career.
Kerkez remains undefeated in his two career matches against Newcastle, and he earnt an assist in Bournemouth’s 4-1 win at St James’ Park last season.
