While this season has been a rollercoaster for Liverpool at pretty much every position on the pitch at some point or another, goalkeeper is the one place they have had minimal worries.

That's because they still employ arguably the best keeper in the world in the shape of Alisson Becker, who has been a staple through the last decade of success at Anfield.

The club shelled out big money to Valencia to bring in his No. 2 and expected successor, Giorgi Mamardashvili, to the club, and he has shown glimpses in his limited chances that he could very well be up to the job.

Having said that, there is another player that is throwing his hat in the ring to man the goal for the Reds well into the future. That is 24-year old Czechian Vitezslav Jaros.

Jaros challenges himself

Speaking to De Telegraaf, Jaros made it clear he has long-term goals in mind when it comes to his career and Liverpool. His lofty ambitions have him wanting to displace both the Brazilian and the Georgian.

""Because taking their place isn't easy. But that's ultimately the goal. And once I succeed, I want to win the Champions League." "

It's the kind of confidence you want to see from a player at a club like ours. Currently, Jaros is on loan with Dutch giants Ajax where he has made 16 appearances this season and appears to be settling in as their No. 1 in goal.

He is gaining valuable match experience in a quality league that he hopes he can parlay into even bigger success going forward.

"I'm really pleasantly surprised. There are many great and big clubs in the Netherlands with quality players, which means matches are close and difficult to win." he said.

That's exactly what a club that sends a player out on loan wants to see and hear, so the Czechia international is exactly where he needs to be for his long-term development.

Enjoying life at Ajax

While it's clear that Jaros wants to win the biggest prizes in football back at Liverpool, he is still able to appreciate his current standing at one of the most historic clubs in Europe.

He followed former Reds coach John Heitinga who got the manager job at Ajax, before being let go earlier this season. Even with that, Jaros was grateful to follow his coach to a great club.

""I had a wonderful time with him at Liverpool and know what a good coach he is. Moreover, Ajax is an immensely large and globally renowned club. Because of John and the club's history and stature, it was an easy decision to make.""

With the new boss coming in following a mediocre start to the season, Jaros saw himself benched for a six game stretch, before being reinserted into the lineup.

The club have since gone on a good winning run and the rest of season outlook is much brighter than it was even a a few weeks ago. Jaros is a big reason for this and he is showing his worth to his parent club back in England

While Alisson appears to have many good years left, Jaros has shown he will be more than ready and capable of challenging Mamardashvili for the top job whenever the Brazilian does finally move on.
