An away trip to a raucous stadium in Germany can be an incredibly daunting task when on a losing run such as Liverpool were.
At a goal down it looked like it could be another one of those nights for Arne Slot until a huge comeback performance earned a massive win and put out a real statement at the same time.
These Liverpool players surprised with their impact performances.
Dominik Szoboszlai
Nothing should surprise many with Szoboszlai this season, with the Hungarian marathon man impressing in multiple positions, even during the recent difficult run.
The midfielder was absolutely outstanding away in Germany, not least with his superbly taken goal in the second half. The Hungarian drove an effort into the corner from outside the box and full deserved it was too.

Dom also grabbed an assist from a set piece at a crucial time before the break and his role in Liverpool's fourth was arguably more impressive than the goal and assist.
The midfielder chased back to intercept and after cleverly slipping inside two challenges, he drove forward before a superb weighted pass for Wirtz allowed him to get his first assist in the Champions League for Liverpool.
Perhaps as impressive, Szoboszlai was still full of running in the final minute of added time. He collected another loose Frankfurt pass before carrying the ball over 60 yards and creating a chance for Chiesa with the last kick.
Curtis Jones
Jones is arguably the most divisive player in the Liverpool ranks. Many a Red are torn between his recent form and Liverpool career as a whole.
In a rare start here however, few will disagree with the midfielders excellent and controlled performance.
The Englishman made well over 100 successful passes and dictated large periods of the game, helped by his excellent midfielder partners in Szoboszlai and Wirtz.
Liverpool's midfield options are ever-growing and these levels of performance certainly stand Jones in good stead for further starts down the line.
Ibou Konate
Another man who's form has been patchy at best this season, Ibrahima Konate looked firmly back to his best against Frankfurt.
The Frenchman won all of his aeriel duels, completed all of his long range passes and came up with a huge goal before half-time to send Liverpool into the break with a two-goal lead.

Ibou has never looked in huge danger of losing his starting spot despite recent performances but will have done himself no harm at all with a solid away display in Europe.
Special mentions
Special mentions also go to Florian Wirtz, Cody Gakpo and Hugo Ekitike. The German will be absolutely delighted by a first competitive goal contribution since the season officially began and was able to add another just a few minutes later.
Wirtz was also very unlucky not to score with Mo Salah choosing to go for goal rather than present him with a tap in.
Cody Gakpo has been in fine goalscoring form this season but will have been cursing his luck at the weekend, with three different post hits before heading a sitter wide in the final minutes on Sunday.
His character is seldom questioned and he ended a fine performance with a back post finish here.
Ekitike has had an incredible start to his Liverpool career despite a few substitute appearances of late. The French forward was excellent from start to finish and the pace, guile and composure showed for his equaliser was that of a truly exceptional striker.
