The Reds’ 101st win over Everton in Merseyside Derby history saw Ryan Gravenberch and Hugo Ekitike score the goals to give the Reds the bragging rights on Merseyside.
This victory means that Liverpool will retain their place at the top of the Premier League over the weekend, regardless of other results.
Here are three winners and losers from the 247th Merseyside Derby.
Winner: Ryan Gravenberch
Liverpool’s midfield maestro put in another outstanding performance against Everton, dominating the middle of the park and putting himself on the scoresheet.
The goal will put his name amid the annals of greats who have scored a goal in a Merseyside Derby.
He also became the youngest player to both score and assist for Liverpool in a Merseyside Derby, and there are a lot of greats to have played in these games.

Gravenberch has come into his own since Arne Slot’s arrival and is now a part of the spine of the team, providing cover for his teammates especially defensively.
He won more tackles than anybody in the first half, as well as winning the most duels among Liverpool players.
With six goals under his belt for the club, if Gravenberch can keep adding them to his game he will soon surely be recognised as one of the best midfielders in the world.
Loser: David Moyes
Everton manager David Moyes retains his record of having never won a match as a manager at Anfield.
The Everton legend has also won only six of his 45 matches as a manager against Liverpool overall.
Moyes’s last win against Liverpool came as West Ham manager in November 2021, as the Irons won 3-2 at the London Stadium.

He has now also lost two of his three games as a manager against Arne Slot.
Moyes has never really displayed the tactical nous with any of his teams to frustrate Liverpool and carve out a win at Anfield.
It was the same situation, even when Liverpool had far worse players and had a worse manager. Against a primed Ryan Gravenberch, he stood no chance.
Winner: Liverpool supporters
Having got to see another thrilling, nail-biting encounter in which Liverpool come out on top, things are looking good for Reds fans.
Sitting top of the Premier League and with a win under their belt already in the Champions League, things might look as though they have been plain sailing.
Truth be told, the Reds look like they haven’t got out of second gear for most of this early portion of the season.

They will be bolstered by more minutes in the legs of Alexander Isak and the improving Florian Wirtz, as well as Hugo Ekitike who has hit the ground running.
Add this to a Premier League winning squad from last season, and everything appears rosy in the Liverpool garden.
The Reds face Southampton on Tuesday night in the Carabao Cup, before visiting Selhurst Park next Saturday, with an opportunity to right the wrongs of the Community Shield.
