As the club season finishes, the silly season of football begins. The club looks set to be busy over the summer with one or two new wingers, potentially a new midfielder and a defender of some kind looking likely.

Liverpool will not call it a rebuild and neither would many fans and that instead it is more of a reset as Arne Slot looks to add pieces to complete his 'dynasty' starting squad that will help him win over the skeptical fans.

Players and fans alike have been looking to move on from this season and with this big summer upheaval there will definitely be a lot of news to focus on for the future of the club.

Yan Diomande attracts more suitors… and more money?

With no major breaking news from the LFC camp, a move elsewhere could affect how the market for wingers is viewed.

Anthony Gordon has sealed a move to Barcelona, with the Blaugrana paying £70 million for his services. To many, this seems like an inflated number for a player who managed just 19 goal involvements this year.

You could ask what this has to do with LFC, well as is widely documented, the Reds are in the market for at least one winger and Yan Diomande could be that one. Gordon’s price may impact what Leipzig want and what LFC are willing to pay.

The Ivorian has 23 goal involvements with Leipzig and as alluded to above, there is more competition for his signature. Man City are said to have joined the race for the winger, meaning Liverpool faces PSG and City for the signature of the 19-year-old.

Alongside the market setting deal for Gordon, a bidding war for Diomande could up the price, taking it to numbers this player should not be demanding.

At the reported £100 million mark this was always going to be a difficult and overpriced deal, now with much richer competition, we could see stratospheric numbers quoted.

Konate Leaving

It has been confirmed by multiple sources that French defender Ibrahima Konate will be leaving Anfield when his contract expires at the end of June. The centre-back has long been touted to stay but the two parties did not reach an agreement and another player leaves Liverpool on a free transfer.

That now means, Salah, Robertson, Konate, Trent and Wijnaldum have all left Liverpool at the end of their contracts with LFC recouping little to no fees for these players.

A club once revered for its dealings in the transfer market has ended up looking foolish in recent times worryingly akin to the red rivals in Manchester.

Konate leaves a huge hole in the starting XI and according to Paul Joyce, it will be up to the young, yet exciting duo of Giovanni Leoni and Jeremy Jacquet to fill this role and partner Virgil van Dijk heading into next season.

I think that this won’t be a hugely popular decision, especially when you consider that Leoni is coming off an ACL injury and Jacquet has recently undergone surgery for a badly injured shoulder.

Combine this with the fact that neither has played a minute of Premier League football and it may not end well, but here’s hoping that the two can exceed expectations and fully succeed the outgoing Konate.

Premier League Manager waiting on Liverpool

On Thursday, Sky Sports reported that Andoni Iraola has stalled talks with AC Milan, due to his interest in the Liverpool and Leverkusen jobs.

For the many fans that want a change in manager this comes as a surprising yet intriguing development. You would suspect that Iraola and his staff would want to secure a job as soon as possible and waiting for another to open up would be risky, but has he had a tip off from his former boss, Richard Hughes, the man who took Iraola to Bournemouth?

It could also and most likely be agent chatter in order for Milan and Leverkusen to stump up better conditions for Iraola to work for and under.

Iraola has been a name that has become more and more popular in the Liverpool fansphere as Arne Slot looks to have lost majority of online and match going fans.

Iraola would bring a Premier League proven style that has attracted a lot of praise and helped his former side to a European journey next season, nearly pipping LFC on the final day for the final UCL spot.

Whether or not this would be a good hire is one question, but many would be hapy to see Iraola replace Slot at Anfield.
