Yankuba Minteh has opened up on the chances of making a January move to Liverpool

It may be 95 days until the January transfer window opens, with Liverpool playing either 19 or 20 matches between now and then, but the speculation has already started up again. It was clear during the summer that Andoni Iraola wanted to reinvigorate the Reds' forward line with new additions, following the departure of Mohamed Salah and the injury suffered by Hugo Ekitiké.

Bradley Barcola and Víctor Muñoz did arrive, but it is clear that Liverpool remain one attacker short. Thus, Yankuba Minteh was their number one target, seeking a left-footed right winger to fill Salah's enormous void. However, the Reds were put off by Brighton's astronomical £780 million asking price, as well as the fact that the Gambian international is currently sidelined, suffering a serious leg injury during a pre-season friendly.

However, by the time the transfer window re-opens on New Year's Day, Minteh is expected to be back to full fitness, so could the Reds' reignite their interest? Well, according to Gambian journalist Baboucarr Fallaboweh, Minteh would certainly be interested in making the move to Merseyside.

When Minteh picked up a leg injury against Roma on 8 August 2026, it was forecast that he would be sidelined for around two to three months. Thus, if those estimations are correct, he still has a little while longer to go in his recovery.
